FAQ
Q: Is Airbrushing School a registered school? Do you offer a certificate?
A: Airbrushing School is not a registered institution of learning but rather a private tutorial service. Yes we will provide with a certificate however the certificate is of no value other than sentimental.
Q: Do you teach on the weekends?
A: No, I do not teach on the weekends. This is family time and my private time. Therefore the student has the entire weekend off to travel around Toronto’s many attractions. I provide as much information and support to students as I am able to provide within my power, but students need to be somewhat independant and autonomous on the weekends. I am always accessable by phone.
Q: Do you have a place for students to stay?
A: Students must arrange their own accomodations, meals and transportation. If you are coming into Toronto from another country there is a list of accomodations on this website.
Q: How are your lessons taught?
A: Lessons are taught in a relaxed, professional, one on one setting in a fully equipped, professional airbrushing / illustration studio.
Q: Can i drop in to see the facility anytime?
A: No. Lessons and consultations are by reservation only. Please do not just drop by as we will likely be busy with another student and therefore will be unable to give you the time you deserve.
Q: How do students pay?
A: We require payment before the lesson is booked and the time reserved. Payment can be made online, safely and quickly via paypal or Western Union. We accept cash, international money orders and online via www.paypal.com or Western Union.
Q: How long does it take to learn how to airbrush? How long do I need to learn with you for?
A: If you want to learn just the ABC’s of airbrushing or hobby level airbrushing, the bare bones as they say, then one week or forty hours with me will get you there.
It takes four to five days to get most students doing nice clean free handed block lettering, but more importantly, by the fourth day, students are airbrushing independently, self correcting the common problems that occur with airbrushing. In other words all of my students get pretty comfortable with all of the technical and mechanical things that have to do with airbrushing within a week.
If you are an art teacher or an artist and would like to add airbrushing ability to your repetoire then one week is the answer. However if you are interested in being a full time professional airbrush artist as a career and a lifestyle then it will take five weeks of lessons.
Q: What is the longest period of time that a student has learned with you?
A: Five weeks.
Q: What kind of qualifications do I need to have in order to be a student? Is there a selection process?
A: There is no real selection process. You do not have to be an artist or to have art experience in order to learn with me, however the consequence of not having any art experience or knowledge will be that I will have to explain basic art terms and concepts to you on occasion instead of teaching about airbrushing and how to airbrush. Therefore you will simply not be able to learn as much airbrushing from me in comparison to a student who has art education.
The only qualification needed in order to learn with me is a serious will to learn.
Q: Is there anyone you will not teach?
A: I do not teach anyone with chronic illnesses, lung issues, extreme general allergies to items like latex or acrylic. Besides the health matters, I have never turned down a student because there has never been a need to whatsoever. I have also never had a student bail out of my lessons mid lesson or before the scheduled time because of some awkward moment or anything.
I do not discriminate.
Q: If I stay in Toronto for a month, where do I stay and where do I eat?
A: I have a page of accomodations for Toronto and on that page are a list of reputable accommodations. I have also provided a list of affordable food places, essential services, maps, links to attractions and more. It is essential to me that students are comfortable, safe and secure during their stay here!
Q: What do I need to bring to class?
A: A serious desire to learn, work clothes and work footwear that can get painted on, a lunch, snacks and coffee money and that’s it. You will be going home with more than you arrived with.
Q: I am in a different country but would like to come there to learn? Do you have a credited program?
A: While the name of the website is Airbrushing School, it is not a recognized accredited institution of any kind according to the Government of the province of Ontario or Canada. Airbrushing School is simply a slick name for a private instructional tutorial training. Any certificate that I issue to students is not formal but symbolic and reputable.
Q: How much are hourly classes?
A: Hourly classes are $100.00 per hour.
Q: I live outside of Canada, what kind of visa do I require?
A: You should get a tourist visa if you are required to apply for one in order for you to enter Canada.
You should state to the VISA authorities that you have arranged to have one-on-one tutorial lessons with me and present them with a formal acceptance emailed letter from me, which they can easily verify with me by phone or email.
I can provide you a formal letter by email that states that you are coming to learn with me in a one on one tutorial basis once you have made your payment in full.
